So you need a name for your cat. Maybe it’s the stray you found on your porch one day, or maybe you went to the local animal shelter “just to look.” However, you came to find your new kitty companion; you’re probably wondering what to name them.
That’s where we come in. We’ve drawn on inspiration from movies, shows, books, and even mythology to give you 400 potential names for your new cat.
Famous Cats
Every cat thinks it’s a star, but these high-profile felines became household names and stole the show.
Old Deuteronomy
What better place to start than Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats, and what better character than the leader of the Jellicle cats? If you have an old cat that is even wiser than they appear, this would be a great name to honor them with.
Grizabella
She’s not accepted as a Jellicle cat, and she’s definitely seen her better days. That doesn’t keep her from delivering one of the most powerful songs in musical history and winning our hearts as well as that of Old Deuteronomy. It would be the perfect name for the cat that’s a little rough around the edges but that you can’t help but love.
Jennyanydots
Another star of Cats, this name would be a great fit for the cat with an outgoing personality that carries a little extra weight around the middle and loves to play with her food. You can also shorten it to Jenny, and it’s still cute!
